Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants

This is one of the best books I have ever read. The author is a Native American woman who has the traditional stories, wisdoms, and spiritual viewpoints of her culture, but she also has a PHD in ecology and botany, and can look at the world through a very scientific point of view. She combines both points of view beautifully, and demonstrates how they don't have to be exclusive of each other. It is rare that I have come across a story with so much to say, and so well said. And in this book, each chapter is its own brilliant story, all interconnected with a powerful overarching message.
