⭐️/5 i wanted to love Bride so badly because i actually enjoyed The Love Hypothesis, but this was genuinely painful for me to get through. the writing felt so immature and cringy the entire time. i swear i read better werewolf stories on wattpad in 2012. every serious moment somehow turned into secondhand embarrassment and i never felt emotionally invested in anything happening. misery was such an annoying main character and being stuck in her head for an entire book was exhausting. the dialogue felt childish, the pacing was weird, and the story somehow dragged while also feeling like nothing actually happened?? also… where was the enemies to lovers?? where was the slow burn?? they barely knew each other and suddenly we’re supposed to believe this intense connection exists. there was absolutely no chemistry between them for me. and i’m sorry but the world building drove me insane. “vampYres” PLEASE 😭 it felt like the book was trying so hard to make vampires and werewolves feel unique that it just became goofy. then we get lines like: “you smell like you just came. and i need to eat you out.” actually go ahead and bleach my eyes. yes that is a real line out of the book. don’t even get me started on knotting. i could have gone my entire life without that information. the third act breakup was pointless and irritating, and the dialogue at times genuinely made me question if anyone reread this before publication. your best friend is kidnapped and your first question is “what do you even do all the time?” be so serious. overall this just felt extremely overhyped to me. i know so many people adored this book and i’m sorry to my book besties who loved it, but this was not it for me at all.
