I listened to this as an audiobook (rare for me) and actually enjoyed it. The narrator was not annoying, which was probably why I was able to finish it. Jason Dessen lives a normal, content life with his wife and son when one day he is snatched off the street walking home from the bar. Masked, his kidnapper takes all his personal belongings, his clothes, objects him with drugs, and sends him off into a box. When he wakes up and opens the door of the box, he’s no longer in an abandoned warehouse but in a laboratory with scientists in white coats. He tries to piece together what happened to him and realizes he’s living in an alternate, parallel reality. The rest of the book is basically him trying to get HIS reality; but every decision he makes, spurs an alternate path and alternate reality. I would have probably rated this five stars if I didn’t watch the tv show first. I love the concept so much, btt it the book felt really predictable (my own fault). Although there were some things that the show definitely changed. I loved the ambiguous ending of the book.
