i loved this book right from the start. the way it’s written tugged at my heart strings. takes us from the year 2000 straight into indie sleaze era of the 2010s by pov of a music snob. tons of musical references throughout. (the playlist is so good) percy and joe are madly in love, but for some reason they deprive themselves of loving each other. you’re rooting for them along the way the whole time. percy is a songwriter and music critic, and joe is a singer and musician. they struggle to be together, to even remain friends at some points throughout the novel, but you ache for them to be together throughout the entire thing. their love is the main theme of the book, but it isn’t technically everything the book is about. they just always seem to find a way back to each other. i loved everything about this book. i loved the callbacks to tumblr sleaze, the way we travel through time growing up with percy, her friendship with zoe. amazing amazing heart melting. the end made me say “gah!” out loud. i want more.
