Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health
What readers say
One of my biggest complaints with theories of the mind (both modern and ancient) is that too much can't be proven, has to be taken on faith or authority, or "can't ever be fully understood". If you went to a doctor who told you he could fix your broken leg, but the side effects of doing so might include depression, suicidal thoughts, homicidal thoughts, breaking your other leg, etc. etc. - you'd say he was crazy and hobble away as fast as you could; yet this is what is on the warning labels of so many drugs designed to "help" your mental health. Dianetics is the first book I have read on the mind that doesn't ask you to take it on faith. It is a SCIENCE. It has sound and tested theories, gives the data to back it up, provides clear instructions on how to apply it and the results you can expect, and encourages you to go out and apply it. Nothing has to be taken on faith, nothing has to be accepted because it's "authority". And folks, IT WORKS. I have now done several Dianetic sessions following the procedures and theories laid out in the book and first hand seen these theories at work. In a single session, I handled a friend's lifelong phobia, I've helped someone through the grief of the loss of a loved one who had died, and in turn myself have handled past fears, traumas, and nightmares I have had since I was a child. No PHD or mysticism or holy blessings required - just this book and LRH to guide you through it. You've really got to read it and try it for yourself to believe it.
