Enjoyed the read. For his time Washington is the equivalent of any extremely well regarded entrepreneur we know today, and becomes one of the wealthiest in his time. More importantly are I think the characteristics that make him this successful - endless intrinsic curiosity, genuine kindness, willingness to go against herd beliefs and reach for unpopular conclusions, and a strong set of convictions held through much trial. The book oddly doesn’t talk much about his life as the president; but offers a surprisingly vivid window into who he was. Also reading Jesus biography right now that they share a lot in common - 3 principles being kindness, curiosity, persistence. Throughout his life as an entrepreneur, later investor, he stayed quite true to these principles. A but obscure but it made someone that feels more like a statue come alive a bit. Interesting slice of a faraway time and the way it lives on today in the American ethos - one I believe is forever linked to the entrepreneurialism of its founders.
