I listened to this as an audiobook (my first of the year) so maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy it as much, since I’m usually a physical book person. The plot is clearly thought out, with lots of intertwining events and characters, which I appreciated. But the story itself was a little bland. I know it’s historical fiction, and that’s a genre that I usually don’t read, so it might contribute to why I didn’t enjoy it as much. Also the characters are surfers growing up in Malibu with a celebrity dad, so it’s not relatable for me. I would probably read (or listen to?) another book by Taylor Jenkins Reid since the books are connected by the same universe, but I’m not a huge fan. Still kept me listening though, as I was invested in the family drama about 20% in.
