I really struggled to like this book. I am going to make the assumption based on the dialogue that the main character is supposed to be plus size or at the very least midsize. As someone who is plus size themself, I am so tired of reading stories where the main character hates their body and those negative feelings are carried on throughout the entire book. When I first started reading, I figured this would be something the character would work on in the story since it seems to be such a huge part of her inner dialogue, but I was mistaken. Not every plus size person hates themselves (and more specifically doesn’t hate their body), so it would be nice for authors to stop pushing that narrative (especially in this context, when it’s the ENTIRE book). The love interest is younger than the MC, and that is so heavily emphasized by the main character despite the fact that the main character is extremely immature and emotionally unavailable. I didn’t understand why she kept stressing the age difference when honestly if I were him I would stay far away from her and not the other way around. The only reason why this book is getting two stars is because of the main love interest who I thought was so levelheaded and mature and the only saving grace of the story. Also, if the author really was trying to portray a mid or plus size character, why could that not be represented on the cover? I could be reading too much into this and if so I apologize, but I just feel like it was really poor representation.
