An absolutely killer (pun intended) premise. I love a good slasher with a final girl character. I love how stubborn and sardonic Marilyn was and how she “rose to fame” by constantly giving death the middle finger. I was really enjoying the first half of the story and thought this was a fresh and unique take on the survivors of serial killers story and what revenge meant to them, but the second half and ending were lacking for me. In my opinion Dan could have been a more fleshed out character throughout the story in exchange for all of his quippy remarks about healing and why they needed to become “vigilantes”. I would have loved more lore and details on what wound up being our main villain. I think there was some key information that was left out that would have made the conclusion land more with me. Ultimately I’d recommend this to anyone who loves a slasher story. There were some really well executed and creative kills, and who doesn’t love an FMC giving a serial killer a double middle finger? Thank you to the author for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
