i’m honestly not sure how to feel about this one, which is disappointing because i loved the first book so much. i went into this expecting the same emotional depth and chemistry, but this one just fell really flat for me. unfortunately, there’s barely any actual plot. most of the book is just hunter and maggie exchanging heated looks over and over again with very little meaningful dialogue or genuine interaction. because of that, i never really believed in their relationship beyond the physical attraction. it didn’t feel like they truly knew each other or even liked each other on a deeper level. it also felt like nothing really happened for most of the story. the pacing dragged, but somehow the ending still felt rushed and underdeveloped at the same time. once things finally started happening, everything wrapped up way too quickly and awkwardly. and the main reason hunter and maggie supposedly couldn’t be together just felt so trivial that it was hard for me to stay invested in all the tension and drama surrounding them. overall, i wanted so much more from this after loving the first book, but this one just didn’t work for me emotionally or plot-wise.
