I wanted to love this book…I really did. But I struggled to finish it for OVER A MONTH. It was a slow start trying to figure out who the main character was, who all of these extra people were, and what the hell was going on. Now I will say that it was mildly enjoyable because much like the first host, Sebastian, you don’t know what’s going on. However there were so many characters that had unexplained relationships it was so hard to digest. Frankly, I was just bored for the first 300 pages. However because who I am as a person, I had to finish the book. The ending was sadly predictable and I’m not even remotely surprised by the fact that Evelyn was a fake Evelyn. The idea of the book is fantastic and the footman made for an incredible antagonist…until you got to learn why he’s killing all of your hosts. The author’s intention of a great book was there, however I was just so bored reading it that I could have lived without finishing it.
