This fast-paced sequel to “The Housemaid” was exactly what I needed to pick me up out of my reading slump. Millie is back working as a housemaid for a wealthy family, this time in NYC. She’s trying to be good- and by that I mean no more killing bad husbands. She’s in school, she has a perfect boyfriend. She’s on track to leave the past behind her. But when she starts working for the Garrick’s, she can’t help but get the feeling that something is going on with Wendy Garrick. She stays locked in her room all day, her laundry is blood stained, there are screams coming from behind closed doors. Millie knows she shouldn’t get involved, but she has no choice. She can’t just sit there and let a woman be abused by her husband while she makes dinner! The twists are good and the writing is fast paced. I’m excited to see the movie when it comes out next year!
