Wow, I was not expecting to be absolutely whacked over the head with this heartbreaking and beautiful prose. In fact, I really had no idea what to expect going into this but I was very intrigued by the cover and synopsis. This memoir being written in short, journal-entry like chapters felt like chatting with an old friend while drinking martinis (in a proper glass). Kouri wrote with such a raw vulnerability and heavily encouraged you to meet the uncomfortability of grief head on. I would go into this blind and let Kouri take you along for a ride. Or a bar crawl.
