the spellshop is a cozy, cottagecore fantasy that truly feels like a warm hug. it follows kiela, a reclusive librarian who escapes a revolution with her sentient spider plant assistant, caz, and secretly opens an illegal spellshop on her childhood island to help everyday people. the story is low-stakes and feel-good, filled with baking, gardening, found family, and a gentle slow-burn romance, while still touching on themes of community, class, and the control of knowledge. i listened on audio and absolutely loved it. this might be the coziest book i’ve ever read, and i wanted to live in this world. the quirky characters were charming, and while the final stretch felt a bit unnecessary, it didn’t take away from how sweet and comforting the story was overall. i’ll definitely be continuing the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
