First of all I want to thank LE Todd for allowing me to read this as part of an arc! I really truly enjoyed this book. I’m a huge advocate for mental health awareness, and I love that the story not only focuses on a character with a mental health disorder, but we get the good, bad, and the ugly along with it. Sometimes in books that I’ve read with similar themes, the “ugly” isn’t quite what it’s like to have a disorder, however this was a refreshing and welcomed change! I’m a sucker for a good trope, and this one had them all! Brother’s best friend, enemies to lovers, the athlete, revenge plot, AND a huge bonus for the 2005 Pride and Prejudice references (a personal favorite of mine). I’d have loved to maybe perhaps a little more of that slow burn or development of the relationship between Tristian and Rose. The best friend’s brother who you’ve known forever being an absolute and total butthead is so adorable and so relatable in my opinion. I do love that we get the flashbacks and the “why they are the way that they are”, but I think I would have liked a smidge more development with them. Also, bonus points for the spicy scenes, very well done. It was a short read (318 pages according to my kindle) and because of that I was able to read it not only fairly quickly but I wanted to keep going back for it. I wouldn’t have guessed this was her first contemporary romance book but I felt it was very well done for a first time novel! Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy 😍
