When a book makes you say “holy shit” out loud at the plot twist reveal that’s when you know it’s a good book… and I said it twice for this book. Anna is agoraphobic- following a car accident, she lives alone in her NYC apartment, scared to leave her house. Shes separated from her husband and daughter due to her mental illness. Instead, she watches her neighbors and keeps up with their life through her window, and gets visits from her plethora of doctors. One day, her secluded life changes when the woman from across the street comes to visit. She befriends her and her son, separately. Things take a turn when the woman is murdered right in front of the window one day, and Anna is the only one who has allegedly met this woman. The twists at the end are sooo good (think almost as good as Silent Patient) and the unreliable, self loathing narrator is actually a good fit for Anna’s character here. 100% recommend!
