I love a good healing journey, a good exploration of how’s and why’s and what led people to do the things they’ve done .. but you pair that up with metaphors about flowers and how we can learn to heal with nature and you got me! Leigh has been running from her past ever since she was incarcerated, perhaps even before then, but when the bus transporting her to the next jail wrecks and everyone but her dies she has to decide whether to keep running from that past or make peace with it. Living life looking over her shoulder has been tiring and as Leigh learns about herself outside of her father’s controlling upbringing we get to witness her self-discovery in ways she didn’t think possible. Leigh’s story was immediately captivating and I couldn’t help but eat up every word of her journey. Telling this story in seasons and having those seasons mirror Leigh’s cycle in her healing was the icing on the cake for me as someone who participates in and observes the wheel of the year. I could not get enough of the writing style
